It's all too easy to forget how important some people are to us, in particular parents. The third Sunday in June is Fathers Day which gets it's origins from a small town in Washington called Spokane.

In 1909 a lady by the name of Sonara Dodd whilst at a sermon about mothers came up with the notion of marking a day to pay tribute to fathers worldwide. The first day celebrated in respect of fathers was in 1910 but it was not until fourteen years later in 1924 that it became recognised in a more widespread way.
